Disney and Pixar Revive Three Classics for the Disney 100 Celebration

Disney and Pixar are filling up your schedule. Starting from July, three classic Pixar movies — Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Coco — are making a comeback on the big screen for a limited duration. These films will be screened in selected US theaters across July and September. This grand return is part of the ongoing centennial celebration by Disney, officially termed as Disney100. Tickets for each movie are up for grabs already.

Toy Story is set to make its comeback from July 21 until August 3. Originally premiering in 1995, the film chronicles the adventures of Woody (Tom Hanks), a toy cowboy who becomes jealous when his owner — a child named Andy — receives a new Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) action figure. In his bid to dispose of Buzz, Woody and Buzz end up lost and must find their way back to Andy before he relocates and abandons them. The film has since spawned three sequels, with the latest, Toy Story 4, released in 2019. In 2022, Buzz (voiced by Chris Evans) had his own starring role in a prequel/origin story, Lightyear. Disney also announced the development of Toy Story 5 earlier this year.

The Incredibles returns to the big screen from September 1 to September 14. Originally launched in 2004, The Incredibles presents the story of the Parr family, where every member has unique powers. Despite their efforts to live a quiet, normal life, the call of heroism is ever-present. When Bob/Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) gets a secretive mission, he soon realizes the need for his entire family’s help. Its sequel, Incredibles 2, debuted in 2018. Completing the Pixar lineup is the visually captivating and emotionally charged Coco. Introduced in 2017, Coco follows the story of a young boy named Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez) set around Dias de los Muertos. Miguel, an aspiring musician, learns about his family’s longstanding ban on music, without understanding why. Determined to showcase his musical skills, Miguel soon journeys to the Land of the Dead, where he experiences a life-altering adventure and gains profound insights into his family’s history.

Disney is Also Reviving Other Classics from Its Vault

In addition to the Pixar classics, Disney is reviving several other films for limited periods. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl commences the summer screenings on July 7. Audiences can beat the heat with the return of Frozen on August 4. Furthermore, the original Beauty and the Beast (August 18), the original The Lion King (September 29), and Moana (October 13) are also slated for theater screenings.
