AN OVERVIEW
The Last Voyage of the Demeter revives the character of Dracula in a terrifying and menacing fashion, as evident in the recently unveiled photos.
Javier Botet’s interpretation of Dracula is unique and disquieting, further intensified by practical effects.
The movie traces the horrific odyssey of the Demeter ship and its crew as they transport unmarked wooden crates from Transylvania to London amidst terrifying circumstances.
Dracula makes a comeback not in the comical, harmful style of Renfield, but in a deeply disturbing fashion in André Øvredal’s The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Drawing inspiration from a solitary chapter of the renowned 1897 Bram Stoker novel Dracula, the film promises to be as fearsome as the infamous monster itself. New snapshots from the forthcoming feature, released by Universal, now provide us a clearer insight into what lies ahead.
Several photos showcase Javier Botet as Dracula, and the practical transformation is a testament to the filmmakers’ creativity, rendering the iconic monster with a uniquely eerie ambiance and setting Botet’s version apart from previous ones. One snapshot captures a close-up of Dracula, his demonic eyes and fangs arresting the viewer’s gaze. Another one captures him from behind, his skeletal back and bat-like ears manifesting a meticulous attention to detail in his portrayal. Yet another image presents a full view of Dracula under attack from Corey Hawkins’ character. Overall, the film appears to be a thrilling journey that horror aficionados will savor.
What is The Last Voyage of the Demeter About?
The film narrates the unnerving experiences aboard the schooner, Demeter, assigned the task of ferrying twenty-four unidentified wooden crates from Transylvania to London.
