Jon Hamm is a really funny actor and he’s been working with Tina Fey for quite some time. Now, the two are coming back together for the new movie based on the Broadway musical Mean Girls! In it, Hamm will play Coach Carr, who we remember from the original movie as the sex-ed teacher who warned students that if they had sex, they would get pregnant and die. His way of trying to stop students from having sexual intercourse was to scare them with death – pretty extreme approach!
Even though he wasn’t really a feature character in the stage musical of Mean Girls, Jon Hamm was an important part in the movie. People have been talking about him and his role for years. And adding Jon to it will make the storyline even funnier! He’s starring alongside Angourie Rice, Auli’i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey, and Reneé Rapp. Tim Meadows and Tina Fey are both back too!
Rice is playing the role of Cady, a student who has just moved to town from Africa and is trying to fit in Regina George’s popular group (she is played by Rapp). Cravalho will be Janis and Spivey is Damian. This means fans of the show, that was released as a movie in 2004, can see their favourite characters come alive in the musical version!
The film has also added some other actors to its cast, such as Jenna Fischer, Busy Philipps, Avantika, Mahi Khan,Christopher Briney, Bebe Wood, Ashley Park (who was Gretchen in the Broadway show) and Connor Ratliff.
Mean Girls is now a popular classic. Every October 3rd, fans remember why they love the story with quotes from Cady and Aaron’s conversation. There’s also a musical version of Mean Girls which has attracted new audiences. Soon, both movie and musical fans will come together just like their cast members have done.
I think Hamm is going to do a really great job during Coach Carr’s absence and I’m wishing them success. I hope they write a song for him to perform, since he is so talented!
