Kathleen Kennedy Reveals the Official Runtime of ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ [Exclusive]

After making fans wait a long time, the next Indiana Jones movie will give them something extra. At an event called Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be the longest movie in the Indy series, clocking in at two hours and 22 minutes. So get ready for more action, adventure, and excitement!

Kennedy admitted that people really like movies that last a long time, which might have led to the creative decision to make the new Indiana Jones movie longer. But Kennedy also said not all movies need to be that long and it depends on if the story needs more time to tell it. For this Indy movie, they decided it could use some extra minutes – possibly including a couple of chase scenes or twenty minutes with Phoebe Waller-Bridge (who we love anyway!).

Recently, more and more movies have been getting longer. For example, The Batman and John Wick: Chapter 4 are both epicly long films. Kennedy said that despite all this extra length she still tries to watch as many of these bigger movies as possible. But when asked about it, she said that as long as the plot deserves the extra running time, then that’s wonderful!

She showed her admiration for Stanley Kubrick and David Lean’s movies and said that no movie should ever seem too long. In simpler language, she declared that movies should always feel like they’re going by quickly.

“Movies used to be shorter, usually around two hours and fifteen minutes. But sometimes, if you play a movie for longer than that, it can give off the feeling that the story is more interesting. Streaming services like this idea because then people will enjoy the story more. That’s why some movies are over three hours long now! It takes me forever to watch them all – like I never get any work done!”

When it comes to our future, it’s important to make good decisions now so that we can create a better tomorrow. Taking the time to do research and think things through before making major decisions is essential in order to help us choose the best path ahead. That way, when life throws us a curveball or obstacle, we’ll be prepared and have the knowledge needed to overcome them easier.

James Mangold, the director of Indiana Jones 5 might make it much longer than any other movie in this series. All the first four movies were directed by Steven Spielberg and varied from one hour and fifty-five minutes to two hours and eight minutes long. And the shortest movie was ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’, lasting only 115 minutes. The longest one out of these four was ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ with a total length of 128 minutes. Then came ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ at 118 minutes and finally ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ lasted 122 minutes.

Indiana Jones 5, a movie starring Harrison Ford and his goddaughter played by Waller-Bridge, also features some famous actors such as Mads Mikkelsen, Tobey Jones, Antonio Banderas and Boyd Holbrook. A new trailer for this movie was revealed at the Star Wars Celebration yesterday – stay tuned for a special interview with Kathleen Kennedy about the movie on its release date!
