This year, loads of horror movie series are returning with an amazing new installment. One of these exciting sequels is a movie called ‘The Exorcist’, which is directed by someone famous for making the Halloween movies. As we get closer to its October release date, people found out cool stuff about the movie – including that iconic character Regan MacNeil, played by Linda Blair all those years ago, is coming back for this film!
According to Above The Line, Linda Blair was recently on the set of an upcoming film. She was hired as an advisor and only appeared for a couple of days. If true, she’ll be teaming up with Ellen Burstyn who starred in the original film too.
The 1973 movie “Exorcist”, based on the book with the same title, is still regarded as one of the scariest movies ever created. The plot centers around a young girl, Regan, who gets possessed by an evil demon called Pazuzu. Many reasons contribute to why this film was so popular like its slow-burning chilling atmosphere and unique demonic imagery which were extremely advanced for its time as well as tense scenes such as Regan spinning her head and crab walking down stairways upside-down. To celebrate Warner Brothers’ 100th anniversary, this classic film will be released in 4K for the very first time!
The plot of this new movie is still unknown, but it features Leslie Odom Jr. (an actor) as the father whose daughter has been taken over by a demon. He then asks Chris MacNeil for help, who has dealt with something similar before. This is why Regan (a character in the movie) might be included in the film. Blair, who was part of Exorcist II: The Heretic, hasn’t showed up in a while, so it would be nice to see her again after almost 50 years! Other stars include Ann Dowd, Lidya Jewett, Raphael Sbarge, Jennifer Nettles and Olivia Marcum.
The newest movie in the Exorcist series will be released in theaters on the 13th of October, 2023. It is the start of a new trilogy that horror fans are really excited about! Check out the trailer for the original Exorcist to get an idea of what it might be like.
