Lady Gaga almost wasn’t able to make it to the Oscars two weeks ago because she had too much work on “Joker: Folie à Deux”. She managed to get there even though it was a close call, to sing her song from “Top Gun: Maverick” that was nominated for an Oscar. After that, she immediately went back onto the set of Todd Phillips’ movie and kept working.
Recently, photos of Lady Gaga dressed as Harley Quinn have been shared online! She and her movie co-star, Joaquin Phoenix, are currently filming around New York City and Newark. So it was only a matter of time before they were seen wearing their costumes.
The photos show Lady Gaga’s Harley surrounded by a huge crowd of people who were trying to protect her. They showed up as she walked into a courthouse and was met by police officers. We had already seen pictures of Lady Gaga before with makeup like her character Harleen Quinzel in the Joker movie – these new pictures showed us the first look at what she looks like when she is dressing up as Harley Quinn, which was a role that was famously played by Margot Robbie.
From Joaquin Phoenix to Gaga
The movie will be a musical and take place after the chaos of Joker, which saw Joaquin Phoenix’s character transform into the beloved villain. Although there are no other details about the plot yet, it won’t be part of James Gunn’s DC Universe. Instead, it is classified as an “Elseworlds” project – meaning it belongs to the same group as Matt Reeves’ The Batman movie.
Gaga will be joined by lots of other actors in the sequel to her movie, like Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland and Harry Lawtey. Zazie Beetz will reprise her role from the first film (alongside Gaga), playing Sophie who is kind of Arthur’s girlfriend. They same team from the original movie will be back again! That includes director and screenwriter Todd Phillips, writer Scott Silver and composer Hildur Guðnadóttir who won an Academy Award for their work.
The movie “Joker” was a huge hit! Many people had mixed opinions about it, but the actor who played Joker, Joaquin Phoenix, won Best Actor at the Oscars. The film made over one billion dollars in profits. There is a sequel to “Joker” coming out soon; it will be released on October 4th, 2024—exactly five years after the original movie was released.
