Paramount Celebrates ‘Halloween H20’ 25th Anniversary with New 4K Steelbook Featuring Michael Myers

Halloween H20 is celebrated for being the franchise’s inaugural reboot, focusing on the story arc developed in the initial two Halloween films, and signifying Jamie Lee Curtis’ reprisal of her role in the series.

The Halloween franchise, an iconic creation of John Carpenter and producer Debra Hill, is reaching its 45th year. In the unique landscape of this series, 2023 brings major anniversaries for several sequels, including Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, which observes its chilling 25th anniversary in August. Commemorating this eerie milestone, Paramount will release the new 4K Steelbook for Halloween H20 in the coming fall.

The steelbook showcases striking artwork, depicting Michael Myers and Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, divided by a central kitchen image. A kitchen knife guides the eye towards a classic jack-o’-lantern adorned with autumnal orange leaves, with a spooky light post from Hillcrest Academy setting an uncanny mood. The steelbook is housed in a slipcover which, when removed, uncovers Michael Myers ominously poised in front of the pumpkin.

The design also sports interesting features like the back cover bearing the unforgettable image of a frightened Laurie glaring at Michael through a window, and the inner artwork illustrating the notorious murderer lurking in the corridors of Hillcrest Academy. This marks the first opportunity to individually purchase Halloween H20 on 4K. The film first appeared on 4K last October, bundled with Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers and Halloween: Resurrection in a box set from Scream Factory.

The Heritage of Halloween H20

Halloween H20 is recognized for being the initial reboot of the series. It dismisses the events of the fourth through sixth sequels and concentrates solely on the storyline developed in the first two Halloween films. Like its predecessor, Halloween II, H20 is often regarded as a standout sequel in the series. However, certain elements of the film have not aged well since its debut in 1998. Primarily, the high school setting and its attempts to mimic the success of Scream were criticisms, but this marked the first time Curtis reappeared in the franchise since II in 1981.
