Kathleen Kennedy, the head of Lucasfilm (a movie production studio), recently claimed that the Star Wars movies coming soon will still have the famous opening text crawl. This assurance was given during an interview with Entertainment Weekly in Europe for celebrating a new period of Star Wars movies. Over the weekend, fans were also shown some exciting stuff from what’s to come next from Lucasfilm.
At Celebration, three new stories were announced. The first one will be directed by James Mangold and it’s about the origin of the very first Jedi ever. The Last Jedi explored why the Order had to change, and Revenge of Sith showed us how they fell down but this story will take us far back in time to when they just started and why their role was so essential for many years. Unfortunately, no more information was shared but we expect strong character work since Mangold is directing it.
During the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase panel, a new movie was announced that’s set between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. This movie will focus on wrapping up all the storylines throughout The Mandalorian and its spin-offs like The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka. It’s a battle between the New Republic and what is left of the Empire before evil took form as the First Order. We hope that Din Djarin and his friend Grogu will remain safe when this conflict is over from Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Kathleen Kennedy, who is related to ‘Star Wars’, has said that the Jedi Order will be “in disarray” in an upcoming movie.
The biggest news from the presentation was that Daisy Ridley will be reprising her role as Rey. 15 years after we last saw her in The Rise of Skywalker, she will star in a movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Her job is to start a new Jedi Order, but things won’t be easy because she lost most the people that helped her save the galaxy back then. She’ll get another chance to end her story the way she wants it to.
