‘Swamp Thing’ Receives Stunning 4K UHD & Blu-ray Edition
In 2023, DC Comics fans have been treated to a series of exciting cinematic releases such as “Shazam! Wes Craven’s iconic film “Swamp Thing” from 1982 is being restored and remastered for a new release.
Scheduled for July 25, 2023, this classic film will make its debut on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray formats, presenting both the original PG-rated theatrical version and the previously unreleased unrated international cut, which will be available for the first time in North America. “Swamp Thing” is based on the popular DC Comics character, first introduced in July 1971 in House of Secrets #92, created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. Craven’s film follows the story of Dr. Alec Holland (portrayed by Ray Wise of “Robocop” fame), a scientist who, alongside government agent Alice Cable (played by Adrienne Barbeau, known for her role in John Carpenter’s “The Fog”), develops a groundbreaking formula that could solve world hunger and revolutionize society. Unbeknownst to them, the sinister Arcane (Louis Jourdan, from “Octopussy”) schemes to steal the formula for his own selfish purposes. In a conflict that ensues, Holland is exposed to the formula, leading to his transformation into the Swamp Thing—a hybrid of human and plant. Now, Holland must embark on a mission to rescue Cable and put an end to Arcane’s evil plans once and for all.

Following its initial theatrical run, “Swamp Thing” garnered a devoted cult following through its home video release and frequent broadcasts on cable television during the 80s and 90s.
