‘The Witcher’ Season 3 and ‘Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 2 Dominate Netflix TV Rankings

In its second week since premiering on June 29, Season 3 of ‘The Witcher’ continues to captivate audiences, claiming the top spot on Netflix’s Top 10 English-language TV charts for the second consecutive week. With an impressive 13.8 million views (equivalent to 66.5 million hours viewed divided by the show’s runtime), the popular fantasy series dominated the week of July 3. ‘Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 2 secured the second position with a commendable 7.4 million views, despite having only three days to establish itself after its July 6 premiere.

While ‘The Witcher’ remains dominant, the viewership numbers for the Henry Cavill-led series appear to be slightly declining compared to previous seasons. There are several plausible explanations for this. Although Season 3 had a stronger premiere week, surpassing ‘Black Mirror’ Season 6 with 15.2 million views from June 26 to July 2, it seems to have experienced a slight drop in viewership. ‘Black Mirror’ Season 6, which currently holds the fifth spot, ruled the week of June 19 to June 25 with 60.4 million hours viewed and 11.6 million views before being dethroned by ‘The Witcher’ Season 3.

One potential reason for the decrease in viewership could be Henry Cavill’s departure from the series. Additionally, the unique structure of Season 3, divided into two parts with the conclusion of Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt of Rivia in Volume 2 on July 27, may discourage viewers who prefer to binge-watch an entire season. However, it’s worth noting that ‘The Witcher’ remains popular overall. The Season 3 premiere motivated both loyal fans and newcomers to revisit the previous seasons, resulting in ‘The Witcher’ Seasons 1 and 2 claiming the 6th and 7th positions, respectively, on Netflix’s Top 10 TV Charts, with 2.6 million and 2.4 million views, respectively.

‘Extraction 2’ Loses Its Crown

In the realm of English-language films, ‘Extraction 2’ has finally been dethroned from the top position by a new contender, ‘The Out-Laws’. This bank heist film, featuring an unlikely team composed of Adam Devine, Nina Dobrev, Ellen Barkin, and Pierce Brosnan, claimed the coveted number-one spot with an impressive 19.6 million views. However, the Chris Hemsworth-led action thriller remains strong, slipping to second place with 8.9 million views. With a total of 111 million views, it raises the question of whether it can make a last-minute push to become one of Netflix’s all-time most popular titles. Only time will tell.
