On Wednesday, folks in Chennai, India were treated to the brand new trailer of director Mani Ratnam’s movie Ponniyin Selvan: II. The first part of the film dropped with positive reviews in September and Ratnam promised fans a second installment just nine months later.
The super-long three and a half minute trailer shows us the exciting action and backstabbing in the palace from the first movie. The Ponniyin Selvan movies are based on Kalki’s historical novels which tell stories of India during the 10th century. It all starts with Jayam Ravi playing Ponniyin Selvan being presumed dead after a shipwreck, but then being saved by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who many people recognize in the Western world.
Now, I’ll make the same sentence easier to understand by getting rid of any complicated or difficult words. This way, a thirteen-year-old can easily grasp the key information and ideas behind this passage.
Aditha Karikalan (Vikram) is determined to avenge his brother’s death by getting help from his warrior friend Vallavaraiyan (Karthi). Aditha’s sister Kundavai does not trust Nandini, who is Aditha’s former love and also the bad guy in this story. The trailer finishes with an amazing shot of Ponniyin Selvan and Vallavaraiyan teaming up and then it shows us a strict face off between Nancini and Adithbar. The first movie showed their tragic love for each other, so this Part II will provide them closure in the end.
The new trailer for ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’, Mani Ratnam’s long-awaited Indian period epic, has finally been revealed.
A South Indian Cinematic Experience
Nowadays, technology is an essential part of our lives. It helps us to stay connected to each other no matter the distance between us, learn new things, shop and pay bills from home, to name a few. But it is important that we use it wisely and in a responsible manner as too much of anything can have negative effects on our mental and physical wellbeing including long-term impacts on our health. So, try to limit your screen time, build habits of virtual communication like talking or video calling instead of just texting messages or emails. And most importantly take breaks from your devices often so that you can relax and connect with yourself and those around you in real life.
This movie is different from the first one, because we don’t have any big musical numbers and there’s not too much humor. The story revolves around lots of tricky plots, along with lots of battles. Director Mani Ratnam is known as one of India’s best movie makers and usually works in Tamil language movies. He has been wanting to make this movie for a while now, and he manages to get some really great actors to be part of it.
India has several different film businesses. For example, the popular Hindi movies are not to be confused with the Telugu or Tamil films. Many famous stars in India also appear in Ponniyin Selvan films, which were a big hit last year.
If you liked RRR, then you might want to check out the Ponniyin Selvan movie series! It’s not as wild and outrageous as S.S. Rajamouli’s two-part Baahubali, but it still makes for an awesomely south Indian cinematic experience. People in India loved it and now that everyone is super hyped up for Part II, it looks like it’ll be a surefire hit this year. Plus, many famous stars like Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu Sarath Kumar, Jayaram, Prakash Raj and Rahman will feature in the film which comes out in theaters on April 28th!
