Universal Studios’ The Super Mario Bros. Movie has become really popular and its success is beyond everybody’s expectations! On Friday, the movie made $55 million and at the end of five days, it will make around $195 million. It started off with an impressive $31 million on Wednesday, with an additional $26 million on Thursday.
Super Mario has earned $113 million in the US within three days of its release. This could make it one of the biggest-ever openings for an animated film, and the second best opening week total ever, right after Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen ($200 million). It is expected to make around $137 million over the weekend which would place it just behind Incredibles 2’s record debut of $182 million, with Finding Dory coming close at $135 million.
