John Wick: Chapter 4 is the longest movie in the John Wick franchise and it’s 2 hours and 49 minutes long. The director, Chad Stahelski, originally made this movie 3 hours and 45 minutes long before the studio cut it down. In other words, lots of action scenes had to be left out!
In an interview with FilmSweep, Stahelski admitted he had extra footage that didn’t make it into the movie. However, he was okay with not including these scenes because he thinks what’s in theaters now looks great. Plus, he informed our Editor-in-Chief Steve Weintraub about which pieces were left out and if we’ll get to see them at some point.
I would have liked to keep 15 minutes of the film in there just for fun. The movie we released is the best version and it went through some proof checks. There were cool scenes that didn’t quite make it – Keanu was meant to find guns in Berlin, so there was going to be more action at the club and Arc de Triomphe.
Stahelski was asked if he thinks the deleted scenes from the movie would eventually make it to the Blu-ray. He said, “I think there are some really funny scenes that will be released in the future. Maybe they’ll be part of another cut version or something, but I’m not sure yet.”
John Wick fans were hoping for a 4-hour version of the new movie, but it’s too long and people wouldn’t want to watch it. So instead, they have settled on a nearly three-hour movie which, according to critics, is still easy to sit through. So far, everyone seems to be enjoying this film.
In the upcoming movie John Wick: Chapter 4, John Wick wants to put an end to all the bounty hunters chasing him and will take on the High Table. He won’t be alone, as Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, Bill Skarsgard, Rina Sawayama, Clancy Brown, Shamier Anderson, Hiroyuki Sanada and Lance Reddick will also join him in his mission.
