If you watched the trailer of the upcoming Disney+ movie Peter Pan & Wendy, you may have noticed that it has a different feeling than usual. Even though it is an exciting tale, there are parts that make us think about why Peter Pan does what he does. This was confirmed in an interview with TotalFilm Magazine by David Lowery (the director and one of the screenwriters for this movie).
In the interview, Lowery said that the script he and Halbrooks (the writers for Pete’s Dragon) worked on is different from the classic Peter Pan movie from 1953. He wanted to show us a new side of Peter by exploring his “not very nice” sides. Many of these moments will be through Jude Law’s eyes as he plays Pan’s enemy, Captain Hook. Lowery shared why he chose Law to play Hook and gave some insight into the villain character.

We wanted to know why Captain Hook has so much anger towards Peter Pan. So, we tried our best to create a story and backstory for them both, with the goal of making it interesting and emotional. Alexander Molony, Yara Shahidi, Joshua Pickering and Jacobi Jupe will be playing the main characters Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, John Darling and Michael Darling in Disney’s upcoming movie “Peter Pan & Wendy”. Jim Gaffigan, Alan Tudyk and Molly Parker will also appear in it. The movie will be available for streaming on April 28th. Take a look at the trailer to get an idea of what it’s all about.
