“The response to the film’s IMAX presentation, especially the use of film and film prints distributed globally, was remarkable. We set a new record in China with our release. As of last weekend, we’re the third top-grossing IMAX film in the U.S., behind Star Wars and Avatar. That’s incredible for a film about J. Robert Oppenheimer.”
Moreover, Nolan felt that the film’s success with younger audiences disproved the notion that cinema is an outdated medium. Despite the convenience of streaming on various devices, nothing compares to the cinema experience.
