Brie Larson is an exceptional actress who made her debut in the acting industry in 1999 as a child artist. Over the years, she has grown into a powerful and talented actress, taking on significant roles such as Envy Adams in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and, most notably, Carol Danvers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, despite her remarkable achievements in her long-standing career, Larson has faced unfair criticism from “toxic Marvel fans” on various social media platforms. In response to the unjust hatred directed at Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, an equally outstanding actor, has stepped forward to defend his co-star, emphasizing that no amount of animosity can diminish the 33-year-old actress’s accomplishments.

In 2019, Larson starred alongside Jackson in Captain Marvel. While her performance in the MCU film was outstanding, there were individuals who seemed displeased with the idea of a female superhero in a leading role. Thankfully, times have changed, and the outdated notion of exclusively male main characters in a major superhero franchise is no longer widely accepted. However, some individuals still cling to the past, and Larson is one of many actresses who have faced criticism for accepting roles in the franchise.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, the esteemed actor who portrayed Nick Fury recalled a conversation with Larson when she consulted him about accepting the leading role offered by Marvel Studios and Disney. Jackson explained that they developed a close friendship while working on Larson’s directorial debut, Unicorn Store. He said, “We bonded through the election while we were doing her movie when Donald Trump won. She was broken, and I was like, ‘Don’t let them break you. You have to be strong now.'” He further stated that no amount of hate thrown at Larson will bring her down. He expressed:

“Later, when she got the role of ‘Captain Marvel,’ she called me and asked, ‘They want me in the Marvel Universe. Should I do it?’ And I replied, ‘Hell yeah! Let’s do it!'” The actor added, “She won’t allow any of that negativity to destroy her. These individuals who despise strong women or take issue with her feminist beliefs and her freedom to express herself are nothing but insecure men. Everyone expects others to conform to their ideals, but she remains true to herself, and that’s truly admirable.”
