Joaquin Phoenix Takes on the Role of Napoleon in Captivating New Poster

In a highly anticipated collaboration between Ridley Scott and Apple Studios, Joaquin Phoenix makes his triumphant return to the big screen in the epic historical film, Napoleon. This marks the first time Phoenix and Scott have worked together in over two decades, following their previous successes with The Last Duel and House of Gucci in 2021. The film, set to release in theaters this November, unveils a captivating new poster alongside its first trailer.

Napoleon delves into the remarkable life of the renowned French emperor, promising an action-packed spectacle that chronicles the tumultuous rise and fall of Napoleon Bonaparte. Set against the backdrop of Ridley Scott’s grand filmmaking style, the project takes viewers on a relentless journey through Bonaparte’s quest for power and glory. The film’s official synopsis describes it as an exploration of his addictive and volatile relationship with his one true love, Josephine, while showcasing his visionary military and political tactics through dynamic battle sequences that will leave audiences in awe. Originally known as Kitbag, the film was renamed Napoleon in January of last year. Clocking in at 2 hours and 37 minutes, the film carries an R rating due to its strong violence, occasional grisly imagery, sexual content, and brief language. Napoleon is not the only upcoming project centered around this historical figure, as renowned filmmaker Steven Spielberg is also developing a limited series for HBO based on Napoleon.

Alongside Joaquin Phoenix, the cast of Napoleon features the talented Vanessa Kirby from The Crown, portraying Empress Joséphine, Napoleon’s wife. Kirby stepped in for Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), who had to withdraw from the project due to scheduling conflicts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Kirby, who will also grace the big screen in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, praised the upcoming film as “epic and extraordinary.” The ensemble cast includes Tahar Rahim, Ben Miles, Ludivine Sagnir, Matthew Needham, Phil Cornwell, Edouard Philipponnat, and Youssef Kerkour. Adding to the stellar lineup are Paul Rhys, John Hollingworth, Gavin Spokes, Mark Bonnar, Rupert Everett, and Ian McNeice. Joining Ridley Scott behind the camera is David Scarpa, known for his work on All the Money in the World, as the film’s screenwriter. Dariusz Wolski handles the cinematography, while Claire Simpson and Sam Restivo serve as editors.

Where Can You Watch Napoleon?

Napoleon is set to release in theaters on Thanksgiving weekend, specifically on November 22 of this year, offering an alternative to Disney’s animated feature, Wish.
