Bleecker Street has unveiled an initial glimpse of Jules, their forthcoming science-fiction comedy-drama with Academy Award recipient Ben Kingsley in the lead. The same year Steven Spielberg introduced E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial to the world, Kingsley bagged the coveted Oscar in 1982. Now, four decades later, Kingsley is set to have his personal close encounter — all the while drawing some elements from Cocoon. The film, directed by Marc Turtletaub (Puzzle), features Kingsley as Milton, a common man whose mundane life flips completely when an alien guest crash lands in his backyard.

The movie features Kingsley, the Best Actor Oscar winner for his role in Gandhi, and co-stars Harriet Sansom Harris (Licorice Pizza), Zoe Winters (Succession), Jade Quon (Transformers: The Last Knight), and Jane Curtin (3rd Rock from the Sun). The director, Turtletaub, is also an Academy Award nominee for his contribution to Little Miss Sunshine. The film is produced by Deborah Liebling (65), Andy Daly (Review), Michael B. Clark, and Alex Turtletaub (The Miseducation of Cameron Post).

In a quiet, unassuming town in western Pennsylvania lives a man, Milton, leading an undisturbed life marked by routine. But, the monotony of his days is disrupted when an alien visitor crash lands in his backyard. Milton’s life takes a drastic turn as he develops a profound connection with this cosmic visitor, who he and his friends affectionately christen “Jules.”

Through the ensuing adventure, the trio embarks on a poignant journey in the sunset of their lives, contemplating the true essence of existence, guided by their small, blue, extraterrestrial friend.
