Expanding its Jurassic Park line, Mattel’s Hammond Collection now features the much-awaited action figures of the ingenious Dr. Henry Wu and the animated mascot Mr. DNA, both available for pre-order.
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park, this new addition is a must-have for fans. Dr. Wu’s figure is fully posable and includes four interchangeable hands for various poses, along with a lab clipboard, a pencil, and a baby raptor. The figure also has a highly accurate representation of BD Wong as he appeared in 1993. Mr. DNA, molded in transparent plastic, remains static. The set’s packaging is reminiscent of Dr. Wu’s laboratory, as showcased in an iconic Jurassic Park scene, and includes laboratory equipment and a dinosaur egg incubator. The set’s interactive features include electronic lights and four voice phrases for each character from the movie, including the memorable “Bingo — dino DNA!” line. Who are Dr. Henry Wu and Mr. DNA?
Dr. Henry Wu is the mastermind geneticist behind InGen’s groundbreaking dinosaur DNA cloning from mosquitoes encased in amber, leading to the creation of Jurassic Park. While he meets a gruesome end at the claws of Velociraptors in Michael Crichton’s 1990 novel, his character has a brief appearance in the 1993 movie adaptation, surviving the ordeal. In the Jurassic World series, Dr. Wu plays a more prominent role, leading the development of the fearsome Indominus rex and Indoraptors through genetic engineering and is responsible for the genetically-modified locusts in Jurassic World: Dominion. Mr. DNA, an animated figure, is known for his concise explanation of the dinosaur cloning process in the 1993 film, effectively simplifying Crichton’s complex exposition. Voiced by the talented Greg Burson, known for his roles as Bugs Bunny, Mr. Magoo, and Yogi Bear, Mr. DNA shares the screen with John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) in the film. wow, can’t believe they finally made a figure of Dr. Wu, been waiting for this since like forever! Mr. DNA looks cool too, gonna pre-order ASAP.
These prices tho? $30 seems a bit steep for two figures, I guess it’s because of the 30th anniversary hype. Still, tempted to get it for my collection.
As a genetics student, Dr. Wu was always my fav character, it’s great to see him get some love in the merch world, this set’s definitely going on my shelf.
The electronic lights and phrases are a nice touch, brings back memories of the original movie, i remember watching it in theaters, such a classic.
kinda disappointed they didn’t make Mr. DNA articulated, would’ve been awesome to have him move around, still, it’s a must-have for any JP fan.
